Hmmmm.......

OK so here are some questions about necessity or not:
1. eyebrow waxing? I can't pluck for the life of me and I'm kinda starting to look like a guy :)
2. My weekly pound of coffee from Starbucks? I brew it at home and no I can't get anything cheaper, I'd rather so with out if I have to.
3. New runners for Xavier? His old ones work but they're so darn ugly and will make his new clothes look terrible.
4. Haircut for Klausine?
5. One last pedicure for the season?
6. Movie rentals because the weather sucks and we have no cable?
7. Toys and candy for the kids because I want them to love me? OK just kidding they're so spoiled and this will be a great month to get that back on track!
8. Shredded cheese instead of a brick? I despise shredding cheese almost as much as I despise putting sheets on bed!
9. Am I supposed to start drinking tap water??? We have a water cooler and buy bottled water every few weeks.
Ok I'm going to stop before I get carried away ;)

Here are a few things I am changing this month

We are walking to school everyday rain or shine (25 minute walk each way)
We are NOT eating out
We are not driving around for hours saturday morning buying other people junk at garage sales
We will not let the kids have more than one bath a day. (they love baths and can sometimes have 2 or 3 each!!)
I will turn off the air conditioners at night
I will fire the lawn mowing guy :( Guess the grass will just have to grow!

THat's all I can think of for now but I'll keep ya'll updated :)

1. eyebrow waxing?

Buy an at home waxing kit. I did this for a while it works great!

2. My weekly pound of coffee from Starbucks? If you can't switch to cheaper, I say give it up.

3. New runners for Xavier? I think shoes are OK to buy, but one new pair for each child that is it.

4. Haircut for Klausine? Can you cut it yourself

5. One last pedicure for the season? Nope not necessairy.
(for the record starbucks and pedi's are the ONLY thing I do for myself)

6. Movie rentals because the weather sucks and we have no cable? How much are you spending on movies? Do you have netflix? You can join for $9.99 a month.

7. Toys and candy for the kids because I want them to love me? We have a rule. We only buy new toys for holiday's and birthdays, that is it.

8. Shredded cheese instead of a brick? I actually do not find much of a cost difference in it. Do you have a kitchenaid mixer? I have an attachment for mine that shreads a whoel block of cheese in like 20 seconds.

9. Am I supposed to start drinking tap water??? It is much cheaper if you buy it by the gallon. Can you switch to only buying it by the gallon?

Here are a few things I am changing this month

We are NOT eating out (combined with the walking think all the weight you will loose :-)
We are not driving around for hours saturday morning buying other people junk at garage sales

I will turn off the air conditioners at night
I will fire the lawn mowing guy :( can you cut it yourself? When Jim is not home I cut mine. Preggo and all I cut it, and my back yard takes over an hour to cut.

Uh, since your birthday is in a few days maybe some of those smaller things (i.e .coffee) might just take care of themselves. I'm just saying...

My answers for you.... :)

1. eyebrow waxing? I can't pluck for the life of me and I'm kinda starting to look like a guy :)
~You don't look like a man, I say skip the waxing and start the plucking!! Can you not pluck because it hurts or it is just hard to do?? I have never waxed mine...ever!

2. My weekly pound of coffee from Starbucks? I brew it at home and no I can't get anything cheaper, I'd rather so with out if I have to.
~SKIP! I can say that cause I hate coffee :P

3. New runners for Xavier? His old ones work but they're so darn ugly and will make his new clothes look terrible.
~New runners...they are fairly cheap at Superstore!

4. Haircut for Klausine?
~Bring her here....Macy can cut it for free! Ha ha!! No seriously, I can cut it for you if you want :)

5. One last pedicure for the season?
~SKIP

6. Movie rentals because the weather sucks and we have no cable?
~ Come do a movie swap with us! :)

7. Toys and candy for the kids because I want them to love me? OK just kidding they're so spoiled and this will be a great month to get that back on track!
~ SKIP or we can do a toy swap too!

8. Shredded cheese instead of a brick? I despise shredding cheese almost as much as I despise putting sheets on bed!
~ Shred!

9. Am I supposed to start drinking tap water??? We have a water cooler and buy bottled water every few weeks.
~ Our water is good, drink tap.

Way to go on walking to school!!

How cute is your Mom!?

what a great thing to do - the walking for 25 minutes each way.

I'd say the eyebrow waxing is a necessity. People KNOW when I've done it at home. Not a pretty sight.

Not eating out, turning off the air, no thrifting - these all belong on my list too.

Have a great "nothing" week.

for free movies check them out of the library - go online and you can view them and request the ones you want and then they email you when they're ready for pickup. The only downside is you can wait a long time for new releases. we've saved a tonne of money doing this.

Good luck on your living less for 30! I can't wait to hear an update on what you all decided to cut out.

I like the one idea of a movie swap with a friend...good thinking!!

1. eyebrow waxing? I can't pluck for the life of me and I'm kinda starting to look like a guy :)
A: I say if that is your "one thing" then go for it...maybe call around and see if there is a cheaper place?

2. My weekly pound of coffee from Starbucks? I brew it at home and no I can't get anything cheaper, I'd rather so with out if I have to.
A: Could you switch to the Costco brand brewed by Starbucks??? This might be a cheaper option.

3. New runners for Xavier? His old ones work but they're so darn ugly and will make his new clothes look terrible.
A: See if you can buy a pair from Payless so you get a BOGO sale and one of the other kids can get another pair and save them for when they need them.
4. Haircut for Klausine?
A: Can a friend or Grandma do this? FYI - I have been know to cut hair before and would be more than willing ;)
5. One last pedicure for the season?
A: No go..I didn't / couldn't afford one this summer...you can go without it.

6. Movie rentals because the weather sucks and we have no cable?
A: Do a switcharoo w/ a friend?
7. Toys and candy for the kids because I want them to love me? OK just kidding they're so spoiled and this will be a great month to get that back on track!
A: No go...then maybe a treat at the end like special sprinkles for homemade cookies or cupcakes?

8. Shredded cheese instead of a brick? I despise shredding cheese almost as much as I despise putting sheets on bed!
A: If it makes a price difference switch to brick and see if your mom has an electric shredder you can use to shred your own.
9. Am I supposed to start drinking tap water??? We have a water cooler and buy bottled water every few weeks.
A: Drink Tap
Ok I'm going to stop before I get carried away ;)
