Breakfast

I need some suggestions for quick easy sugar-free breakfast. Ever since I watched an indepth report on CTV about kids brains on cereal I have been making eggs for breakfast. The report claimed sugar for breakfast really effects kids learning due to the instant sugar high they get followed by the crash. I decided to test their theory and now six weeks later would say I agree 100%. The kids are not only a lot brighter in the morning after their breakfast they also stay full a lot longer. I rarely hear whining about how hungry they are like they use to five minutes after a bowl of cereal. I also notice they play together nicely a lot longer. When they were eating cereal about an hour later they would all be really grumpy and start fighting but now we can make it to lunch with out any major fights. Needless to say for a mom with very little time these things are a huge help. So Back to the suggestions...They don't like oatmeal and it is getting harder and harder to get them to eat eggs. It would be nice to be able to give them a little variety. Ok so please let me know if you have any good sugar free breakfast ideas
Thanks

Reading your blog was such a highlight for me! I feel like I had a visit with you and your family. I only wish that your other siblings from across the country but also start one too.

Keep it up at least weekly.

Just to share a little tidbit on breakfast. I also hate oatmeal but now eat it everyday. I use the large oats and don't use too much water. I then put fresh apple & cinnamon on top with vanilla yogurt or blueberries. Another idea would be a smoothie. 1 cup orange juice, 1/2 banana, a few frozen strawberries and some ice cubes and some protein powder and whip in blender and the kids will come running. Hope that these ideas help.

What about fruit and yogurt and granola.

Or the old fav peaches and toast with velveeta. I seem to recall some people liking that.

I agree with MP. vanilla yogurt with sliced bananas, grapes, berries, etc and some granola is so delicious and healthy. AND no cooking!

I can vouch for the deliciousness of Joanne's smoothie recipe. She made them for a work breakfast recently and they were incredible! Even without the protein powder. Yumm!!

Hey, Haffew, I seem to remember you wolfing down those peaches with toast and velveeta back in the day...

Ha! No velveeta has ever passed these lips. I was more into toasted Rasin Bread. Theresa was the fake cheese lover.

Thanks, auntieb - I think Google was having some issues yesterday and wouldn't let me in as anything but anonymous.

And, again, Haffew - what do you think was on all those grilled cheese sandwiches you scarfed down...?
