teaching how to be thankful

Since everyone was so helpful with the breakfast tips I thought I would put another question out there. Anyone have any idea how to teach kids how to be thankful for what they have. Now I know being a mother is mostly a thankless job but I have recently noticed a huge lack of being grateful in my household. I wouldn't say my babies are spoiled but I feel like I have done a poor job in teaching them to be happy with what they have. I don't think they are too young to understand I just think I need a new approach. I have been making a real effort to be a good example of being thankful and positive but so far no change. How do I show them that a lot of kids don't get everything they want, and a lot of kids aren't involved in every sport/activity they show any interest in. I know it seems like I expect a lot from them but they have proved in the past that they understand these kinds of concepts. Any ideas??

According to all the experts, the very best teaching tool is example. They may not show it now (or even until they're, say, 25 :)...) but they are watching every single thing you do and say so - keep it up! It'll happen!!

PS: Maybe choosing a few of their toys on a regular basis to give to kids who don't have any might speed up the process...
