One of my favorite qualities about my husband is his knowledge and capability to build anything. He can also fix anything that is broken and do it as soon as it happens without procrastination. For the last few months I have been not so subtly hinting that I NEED a deck in the backyard. I was surprised by his lack of enthusiasm and wondered if I had finally found something he couldn't do. He kept telling me he wasn't quite sure how to go about building a deck but he would think about it. Lucky for me my BIL does that kinda stuff for a living and was more than willing to show Carl the ropes. The night before my BIL came Carl told me in detail his thoughts on how to build the deck and to be honest I didn't really follow what he was saying. Not that I'm not interested. There just isn't enough room in my little brain for information that in beyond survival skills at this point. So my BIL came measured some stuff and off they went to get the (very expensive) wood. Within a few hours they had the deck almost done!! While the kids were playing in the yard I sat and watched them build. As usual every idea my husband had about building a deck was right from the first dig to the last screw! I'm so proud of him and so grateful to my BIL for getting the job done so fast!! This picture is mid build and I won't post another one until we put the stain on.

Wow, looks amazing! Can't wait to come and put my feet up in your backyard next month... Carl, you rock. Please hang around so that there will be someone around to make some original jokes about my visual handicap during my vacation, OK? I think Liliane's developing a lazy eye so think of all the material!!
