Boogie Man

So here I am sitting downstairs as the only adult in the house, thinking how hard it is going to be sleeping alone for the next 15 nights. I still haven't really grown up, as I mentioned in earlier posts, so being home "alone" is still a challenge for me. I will pat myself on the back for resisting the temptation of putting the baby to sleep in my bed though!
In case you don't know, Carl left today for the Ekati diamond mines in the NWT's. We tearfully, and excitedly, took him to the bus this morning to go to Edmonton. From Edmonton he flies to Yellowknife then from YK to Hayriver then a charter to the camp. I am very grateful that we have been given this amazing opportunity. I also feel very blessed to have a hard working husband who is willing to literally, go the extra few thousand miles to support his family. I know I can do the day to day things on my own. I am used to the single life because he almost always works 16+ hours a day. I do however miss the end of the day cuddle, and sharing a laugh about all the silly things the kids (mostly Lunden) have said. I know the next couple weeks will fly by but still...if anyone wants to come sleepover and help me watch for the Boogie Man, feel free!!

You can do it! Just access your inner Viking and don't forget - we're all just a phone call away!

Jen I have been there girl and you can do this. I did it with three very small kids not 5... but you can do it and the money kicks ass.

He should also take pics for the kids of the things he sees. That helped our oldest (three at the time) understand what daddy was doing while he was gone. And now it is fun to look back and see the neat sights he got to see. The large white rabbit... the birds eating out of his hand... the trucks frozen in the water (ok that was not cool as he was a trucker)... the large dump trucks and machines... lots of neat stuff.

Jen, isn't it amazing how empty the house feels without your man about? Will keep you in my prayers these next few days....and soon, he'll be back home with you!!!

What a great guy you have - and you're not so bad yourself, it's quite the task taking care of a house and 5 kids day in and day out by yourself! Good for you - may you be blessed during this time of change!
